
Claire Rye
Claire Rye is a British born artist who moved from London to Aotearoa in 2015. She trained at Wimbledon Art school and Manchester Metropolitan University (UK).
While she studied Fine Art Sculpture, Claire has since discovered a passion for street painting and mural art.
Claire has built her career painting murals which celebrate nature focusing often on native birds and plants. On paper she uses sprays, inks, acrylics and collage in varying ways. Claire combines bright colours, stylised imagery and patterns to create vibrant psychedelic worlds often influenced by her travels in the world. She is interested in environmental conservation, and connecting communities.
Claire has had a very bad astigmatism all of her life. Through her lens life is blurry but beautiful.
She is currently studying Art Therapy (Post Grad. Dip) at Whitecliffe University having worked as a creative youth worker and community artist since 2006.
Rye has created a work onto the Nomadic Art Gallery's public participatory artwork, as shown belown.
